About Frau Ellis
Guten Tag! My name is Devon Ellis (although my students know me as Frau Ellis or simply Frellis), and I am a German and French teacher at Wellesley High School in Wellesley, MA–where I have been teaching since 2006.
EDUCATION: After getting my Masters in Teaching from Southern Illinois University in 2006, I began teaching at Wellesley High. In 2009, I finished my Masters in German Literature at Tufts University in Boston, and I am expecting to finish a Masters in French Studies by the fall of 2013.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching, working with kids and taking students abroad is what motivates me, and I truly enjoy teaching all levels of German (German 1-5AP) and French 1 and 2. In addition to teaching, I run the bi-annual 3-week German Exchange program, the semester and year-long German Exchange program and I chaperone the bi-annual 3-week French Exchange program at Wellesley High School.
AWARDS: In 2009, I was awarded with the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association’s International Student Experience Language Matters Award for providing students with opportunities to travel and study abroad while in High School. In 2010, I was awarded the Association of German Societies of New England’s German Educator of the Year award for commitment to and excellence in German teaching. In 2011, I was awarded the Duden Award for German Teaching Excellence by the American Association of Teachers of German.
I truly love teaching German and French and teaching students at WHS. If you have any questions about French or German at WHS, please feel free to contact me–my information is below.
